Description

Summary:
Works closely with the staff to analyze issues, processes and data; acts a liaison between the business partners/staff and the Information Systems department providing general consulting, reporting needs and problem solving services. Identifies needs for changes in environment to promote system use. Works on and assists with the analysis, design, and implementation of projects in support of the information systems needs of hospital departments. Participate in entire life-cycle of project development, including business systems analysis, prototyping applications, subsequent implementation of programs/systems, whether in-house or purchased.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Organizes, manages, and implements projects in accordance with the strategic plan, and collaborates with and guides staff in identifying opportunities for improving quality and efficiency
• Will learn about specific applications through vendor training, participation in implementation teams
• Works in a team environment on large projects or independently on small projects
• Communicates effectively in order to provide optimal support of all departments information systems needs and to promote a professional climate
• Provides appropriate support to various assigned teams and projects including technical support for both hardware and software
• Coordinates and/or provides training and development of policies/procedures related to assigned projects
• Responds to helpdesk requests from systems users; defining priorities, answering questions, troubleshooting and resolving problems including, but not limited to, hardware, software, and workflow issues
• Exhibits knowledge of current medical practices, standards, delivery systems, and documentation methods and trends
• Follows established standards of system design, configuration and testing during the development process using Change Management protocols
• Assures all system changes are properly tested and documented to ensure system efficiency
• Interacts with vendors to facilitate support and implementations
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Must be able to think clearly and react positively under pressure/stress and appropriately escalate issues
• Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, initiative, tact, diplomacy, plus well developed interpersonal skills required for interactions with physicians, other health care team members, and contacts external to the organization
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; must be able to quickly transition from task to task; must be able to prioritize work
• Must be able to maintain the strictness of confidentiality

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in IS or related field; or equivalent experience
• 5 years+ working in healthcare
• Understanding of project management concepts
• Understanding of basic database administration
• HIM experience is a plus
• Healthcare experience in a hospital, physician practice or home care setting is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communications skills
